SYMMETRICAL FAULT LOCATION IN OVERHEAD TRANSMISSION LINE BASED ON NEURAL COMPUTATION WITHOUT USING LINE PARAMETER

This paper presents a new technique of symmetrical fault location in single circuit overhead transmission lines. The algorithm of this technique is based on the measurements taken from the phasor measurement unit (PMU) at both end of the line and based only on the neural network circuit in order to minimize the computation process comparing to other analog computational methods. This algorithm can be applied any transmission line in a general N -bus network. A flow chart is provided to show the simplicity of computation.
